چکیده

The main target of T7.1 was the development of VR based demonstrators for soft tissue interaction. While D7.1 mainly focused on theoretical background, and implementation detail, this report advances towards the evaluation of the system from several points of view. The studies range from psychophysical evaluation experiments, to more technical evaluation of the approaches. An evaluation of the realism of the soft tissue interaction demonstrator was carried out in a simple indentation test. In two experimental studies we examined the fidelity of a simple deformation model for providing haptic feedback during an interaction with virtual elastic objects. Both experiments were based on comparison of the interaction with a virtual object to that with a real silicone object. Our results indicate, that using the simplified physical model for the haptic interaction with soft objects, we were able to achieve a high fidelity of the virtual rendering. We found that subjects could discern between the categories with a mean accuracy of 63% with no significant bias. TOUCH-HapSys D7.9 Report on Demonstrator Design Specifications 2

The Effect of Polarized Laser Radiation on Viscoelastic Properties of Soft Tissue

Background: Laser-tissue interaction on low-level laser therapy (LLLT) has widespread medical applications (e.g., improved wound healing). The tensile strength of radiated tissue by LLLT is known to be increased mainly because of cross collagen bands developed after radiation. Objective: In this work, we studied the instantaneous effect of radiation of polarized laser beam on the viscoelastic ti...

Evaluation of soft tissue norms on lateral cephalograms in babol

Introduction: Soft tissue has a prominent role in diagnosis and treatment plan in orthodontics. Facial proportions are measurable on lateral cephalograms. The purpose of this study was to compare the means of the normal soft tissue proportions of babol people with the norms of Caucasians. Materials & Methods: In this cross-sectional study, 100 cases with normal occlusion and proportional facia...

Congenital Mucocele of The Lower Lip: Case Report and Literature Review

Introduction: Mucoceles are described as asymptomatic benign soft tissue masses of the oral cavity. They are soft, smooth, spherical, translucent and fluctuant in the clinical appearance. The most common site of the mucocele is the interior surface of the lower lip followed by the tongue, floor of mouth (ranula), and the buccal mucosa. Case Reports: This is a case of a 2-year-old girl referr...

Unusual Presentation of Synovial Sarcoma as Meniscal Cyst: A Case Report

Periarticular cyst and cystic soft tissue lesion around the knee are common. Synovial sarcoma is a rare and malignant soft tissue tumor accounting for approximately 5% of soft tissue sarcoma. A case is presented where a lesion adjacent to the joint line of the knee was diagnosed clinically and on imaging as a meniscal cyst. MRI signal was homogenous and no concomitant meniscal tears were seen...
